Apoptosis is associated with the fragmentation of chromosomal DNA into multiples of the 180 bp nucleosomal unit, known as DNA laddering. This kit is designed to maximize extraction of small fragments of DNA with minimal contamination from intact chromatin. The isolated DNA is separated by electrophoresis and can be visualized using ethidium bromide.
This kit provides a way to isolate apoptotic DNA fragments for DNA ladder analysis. The purification method used is much faster than other DNA purification methods (e.g., phenol/chloroform extraction, DNA precipitation). Purified DNA can be mixed directly with gel loading buffer and analyzed on an agarose gel.
