Zolmitriptan Side Effects

As with any medicine, Zolmitriptan can cause side effects. Generally, Zolmitriptan is well tolerated by most people. Even when taking different doses, most of the adverse effects are mild, don’t last long, and cause no lasting problems. However, Zolmitriptan can cause extremely rare but serious side effects involving the heart, including heart attack or stroke. These types of problems have generally occurred in people who already had coronary artery disease when they took the drug. Before you use Zolmitriptan, tell your doctor if you have:
Epilepsy or other seizure disorder
Blood vessel problems such as peripheral vascular disease (diseases related to the blood vessels outside the heart and brain)or ischemic bowel disease (in which there is a problem with blood flow to the bowels)
High blood pressure
Liver disease
Kidney disease
Stroke or other problems with blood circulation
Heart disease
